Flt Lt Dawson has been involved with 247 Squadron since May 1993 when he joined as a cadet. Gaining his commission in October 2001 he has gone on to hold the posts of Adjutant, Supply Officer, Training Officer and Officer Commanding (Dec 04-Sep 06 and Feb 09 - date). Flt Lt Dawson was awarded the Cadet Forces Medal and achieved a Graduateship from the City and Guilds Institute in 2010.
As well as being qualified in weapons testing, First Aid and part of the Wing Training Team, Flt Lt Dawson is ultimately responsible for all the cadets, their training, and the staff at the Squadron.

WO Cooper has been in the ATC since 1981 where he joined as a cadet. After joining the uniformed staff ranks in 1991 WO Cooper has served on a number of Squadrons in East Lancashire Wing before moving to 247 Squadron in 1997. In 2002 AWO Cooper was awarded the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal, and the Cadet Forces Medal in 2003. AWO Cooper is a qualified Mountain Leader and First Aider. AWO Cooper is responsible for drill and discipline on the Squadron, as well as various training subjects.

Pilot Officer Wilson joined Ashton Squadron in 2005 as a Civilian Instructor and shortly after passed his interviews for Adult Sergeant. In 2010 he passed his commission interview boards to become an Officer and has been recently appointed Pilot Officer. Pilot Officer Wilson is our Media and Weapson Training Officer.

Kath Wrigley

Pilot Officer Wrigley joined the Squadron in 2008 as a Civilian Instructor. Qualified in SCUBA training and BELA expedition supervisor, Plt Off Wrigley is kept busy. After her application for officer in early 2011, she was appointed as a Pilot Officer and has recently completed her Initial Officer Course at RAF Cranwell.
Kath is the Squadron Admin and Finance officer and is often the first person people see when the arrive at the Squadron.

Martin Williamson
MFHT. BSy (Sp.I)

Martin served with the Royal Air Force in the early 1980's where he won best recruit for physical training. Since leaving the Air Force Martin joined Greater Manchester Police and has been awarded the Queens Silver Jubilee and Long service and Good conduct medals. He joined the Air Cadet Organisation as a civilian instructor in 2009. Whilst in the police he has studied part time over a number of years to become a sports therapist and he now works with amateur and professional rugby league teams. His main responsibility is for sport for the squadron and to assist the cadets with their fitness goals.
